From the garden onto your plate

Regular guests will know we used to have a little vegetable garden at our resort in Manado next to the lounge area. Unfortunately,, the stuff just refused to grow, no matter how much we gave the plants all the TLC in the world.

After doing some renovation work on our Hilltop rooms, the surrounding gardens offered the perfect chance for our resort manager Arnol to revisit his earlier attempt at a vegetable garden.

Veggies under the tropical sun

The much more fertile ground near the Hilltop rooms was exactly what we needed, so Arnol and his team set to work on planning, measuring, digging, and planting.

Fast-forward a few weeks, and the fertile ground already proved its worth. The following delicious food ended up on our guests’ plates:

  • Cucumber
  • String Bean
  • Eggplant
  • Pumpkin
  • Lettuce
  • Carrot
  • Potato
  • Watermelon
Fresh stringbeans

And here’s the fun thing: guests who like to do our cooking class will be able to pick their own veggies, as well as learn a thing or two about the local strains of edible plant life.

Want to cook? Let's see what we have…

By growing our own ingredients we are cutting out polluting supply runs from the city, with the added benefit of cost-effectiveness of course. But the primary reason of course is that there’s simply nothing better than home-grown and freshly cooked food, straight from the garden onto your plate!

From the garden onto your plate…
